Grasp the opportunity

As a Data Analyst (Power BI) at Northpool, you will be working together with different departments -in particular IT and Finance-, to use as much data as possible and making analyses, (financial) reports and presentations related to the performance of the various departments. With these reports, our goal is to provide insight into the costs and performance of our trading desks to make recommendations about business decisions and -goals.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel: the BI environment is there and the departments themselves provide input about what information they want to get from the trading databases. It is important that you know how to work with Power BI and that you have basic knowledge of finance; you must be able to communicate well with both IT as well as the business and you need to interpret the data and reports properly. It is not necessary to be fully aware of the world of Energy Trading, but you must be able to understand the background of the formation of the prices. We will help you gain the knowledge you need.

During your work at Northpool you will:

• Be responsible for the reporting environment;
• Prepare overall monthly reports and analysis on business results;
• Give the individual departments insight into their results;
• Provide the Finance department with the mandatory monthly, quarterly and annual reports;
• Report errors/ inaccuracies;
• Convert the raw data (like the trade database) into clear reports, including using Power BI
• Maintain existing dashboards, but also expanding reports and analyzes in the long run;

Your challenge is to give each department insight into how they are performing and to show where there is room for improvement, by giving them user-friendly and clear reports.

Demonstrable experience with developing reports (Power BI) and a strong foundation in SQL Master's degree in a data- or finance-related study (f.e. Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems) Strong data analytics skills Knowledge of the basics of accounting and finance A self-motivated individual who will take ownership of their work Someone who is eager to learn and not afraid to ask questions Good social and communication skills ≥ 2 years of work experience Good knowledge of Excel Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to communicate fluently in English
